NALCO extends healthcare in remote areas of Koraput

National Aluminum Company Limited, as a part its periphery development activities, has been extending health services through its Mobile Health Unit in periphery villages of Mines and Refinery Complex in Damanjodi of Koraput District.

During the last 3 months, the Mobile Health Unit consisting doctors, paramedical staff and social workers has so far covered 108 no of villages and treated 8166 patients. Free medicines worth INR 0.3 million has already been distributed for various ailments, like, malaria, cold, cough, diarrhoea, fever and other skin diseases in these health camps.

Led by Mr GS Mohapatra DGM the newly formed Mobile Health Unit team goes to the neediest villages and organizes these health camps. The mobile health camp team organizes 6 to 8 health camps per week. Many villages, which have been so far covered, are remotely located without any motorable roads. In such cases, the Medical team walks down to the villages through hilly terrain to reach out to the patients.

Mr CM Mohanta manager & PD Cell in charge with the assistance of MHU team including Dr Sudhansu Chowdhury, Physician, Dr G Mohapatra, Community Mobiliser & Shri Digbijay Acharya, Pharmacist, reach out to the patients and organize health camps everyday. Besides, Mr AK Lenka EA, Mr RN Subudhi EA, Mr RN Pradhan EA render extensive support in organizing these health camps.

In last 3 months, NALCO’s Mobile Health Unit has covered villages like Batsilguda, Mujang, Kesbguda, Putsil, Kamalajhola, Chikalmari, Baliguda, Jhimkiguda, Kendumaliguda, Charangul, Beheraguda, Talabandhaguda, to name a few from the 100 odd villages. This initiative from NALCO has received much appreciation and accolades from the periphery villagers in the region.
