It is reported that the steel import of the Middle East slid by 27% during the H1 of 2009.
However, the Middle East still is the biggest net steel import area which imported 13.06 million tonnes of steel in the H1 of 2009.
Turkey is the largest steel exporter to the Middle East which exported 3.17 million tonnes to the Middle East. Meanwhile, Ukraine and Russia exported 2.89 million tonnes and 2.4 million tonnes respectively.
Iran is the biggest steel importer in the Middle East which imported about 3.8 million tonnes in the H1 of 2009.
