Qatargas awards Ras Laffan deal to Kentz Group of UK
Wednesday, 04 Nov 2009

MEED reported that Qatargas has awarded a contract to the UK’s Kentz Group for the engineering, procurement and construction of a receiving and loading facility at Ras Laffan.

Kentz said that work includes full site development of the main fuel truck distribution point for the Laffan refinery tank farm. It also includes installation of an interconnecting pipeline between the tank farm, loading facility and Ras Laffan jetty.

It said that once the project is completed in 2011, the facility will be operated and maintained by Qatar Fuel.

Qatar Petroleum started the Phase I of production at Laffan refinery on July 30, following a delay in its original deadline of November 2008. In September, Kentz won a contract from QP to build gas facilities at Dukhan.

Kentz said that the project covers the replacement of 2 existing glycol regeneration trains at QP’s Fahahil stripping plant in Dukhan.
