Heraeus Electro Nite Co officials announced that it is closing the Peru manufacturing plant. Citing unused capacity in the steel industry and slow recovery in steel consuming industries, the company said the Peru plant will be closed, eliminated 79 jobs, by the end of 2009.
Mr Michael G Midash president of Heraeus Electro said that the 90,000 square foot facility will continue to be used as a distribution center for its products. Heraeus Electro Nite produces sensors and samplers that measure, monitor and control molten metal processes.
Midash stated product engineering will also continue at the Peru site, located at 1025 Industrial Parkway. As a distribution center and engineering site, employment at the Peru Heraeus Electro Nite will be less than 10.
