Japanese iron ore imports down in September

It is reported that Japan imported around 10.82 million tonnes of iron ore in September 2009 down by 12% as compared to the same time of last year. The total imported quantity from January to September reached 72.378 million tonnes down by 31.2% from a year ago.

The main iron ore exports to Japan are Australia at 43.97 million tonnes; Brazil 19.14 million tonnes; India 4.09 million tonnes; South Africa 3.06 million tonnes; Chile 0.65 million tonnes; Peru 0.58 million tonnes and Canada 0.46 million tonnes.
