It is reported that ABB applied Baosteel made oriented silicon steel in producing 6 sets of distribution transformers, which were proved qualified. The news indicates that Baosteel’s oriented silicon steel has won ABB full attestations and achieved the first step to exploit new market.
ABB headquartered in Switzerland is the top 1 transformer producer in the world, and produces over 20% of the world’s outputs. As a leader in the field, ABB has very strict requirements to the silicon steel suppliers, and its authentications ranges from sample, producer and real products.
Mr Chen Ying secretary of board of directors of Baosteel noted in its 3Q report release meeting Baosteel is one of the rare oriented silicon steel producers in China and plans to churn out more than 60,000 tonnes of the product in this year.
Before ABB testing, Baosteel had signed strategic cooperation agreement with China largest transformer producer-Tebian Electric Apparatus Stock Co Ltd. Insiders foresees that Baosteel’s oriented silicon steel is hopeful to be one of the hottest growth points in the mill’s profits.
