Konecranes out sources terminal operations in Finland

Konecranes announced that it has signed an agreement with Finnish firm HUB Logistics Packaging Oy to handle its terminal operations in Hyvinkää in Finland.

The outsourcing of terminal operations includes the reception of goods, packaging and dispatch functions. The outsourcing decision affects 20 Konecranes employees within these functions. All employees will be transferred to HUB Logistics Packaging, retaining their existing employee status. The changes will be effective as of 9 November, 2009.

Mr Juha Anttila director of supply operations in Konecranes' heavy lifting business area said that "Outsourcing terminal operations supports Konecranes' strategy of focusing on its core business; improving our customers' productivity and profitability by providing lifting equipment and services with unrivalled reliability and quality."

He added that "While in our supply operations we want to focus on further developing our supply chain and own manufacturing, at the same time we want to have a specialized partner, whose core business focus is on running and developing terminal operations. As these operations are of vital importance for us, we want to have a dedicated specialist to take care of both these needed tasks."

HUB Logistics Packaging specializes in customized logistics services in Finland, covering the entire logistics process from managing and developing activities, to financing working capital. Previously, Konecranes had bought packages and packaging services, and hired personnel from HUB Logistics Packaging.
