Sidor products are high quality standards

The Alfredo Maneiro Siderurgica del Orinoco or Sidor has a Management System that ensures the supply of products and services according to global standards, which recently received certification for ISO 9001:2008 by Fund for Standardization and Quality Certification.

In regard to the quality of steel products received by customers, the company has continuously updated technical claims index, which measures the amount of tons of its products recognized by customers made claims with respect to the office total for each product family for a certain period.

Mr Rafael Vasquez director of quality of Sidor said that talk of a Technical Complaint, when the material received by the client, preliminarily, does not comply with any requirement dimensional, superficial, metallurgical or mechanical properties established in the agreed specification. It should be noted that this cumulative index to the month of September 2009 records the value of 0.12% as compared to the total shipments of the company, represents so far an improvement of 8% compared to 2008, when the index stood at 0.13%.

Mr Vasquez said that the office to claim recognized as appropriate and used in the indicator, includes products that the customer demands and that once determined their origin, it decided to retain and process in their facilities to other uses of the discount established for reapplication. In deriving this component of total claims, the net rate of origin and returning products to Sidor is just 0.05%, i.e. that for every 1,000 kilograms of material shipped is only 0.5 kilograms verified claim subject to Sidor from and returned by customers.

In 2009, Sidor planned investments in the order of USD 173 million for maintenance and operational improvements at their plants, resulting in improved quality and productivity to satisfy the requirements and demands of its customers.
