Konecranes bags 11 crane order from DP World Djazair
Sunday, 08 Nov 2009

Bloomberg reported that Konecranes received an order for 11 Konecranes reach stackers from DP World Djazair in Algeria.

The RSTs will be delivered during this autumn. Konecranes delivered 6 reach stackers and 5 empty container handlers to the same customer in May and June 2009. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the recent order.

Djazair Port World is JV between DP World and the state of Algeria. The present capacity is 500.000 TEU per year with plans to increase this to 800.000 TEU. The ordered RSTs will operate in the container terminal and is a replacement for older rented units.

Mr Joost Kruijning senior VP & MD of DP World Africa said that “DP World is pleased to continue our business relationship with Konecranes. The 11 reach stackers will help us meet our efficiency and productivity goals at DP World Djazair in service to both our customers and the Algerian people.”

Mr Niklas Brönn sales director of Konecranes Middle East said that “In addition to the delivery in May and June 2009 we have earlier supplied reach stackers to their operations in Dakar, Senegal and Maputo in Mozambique. The recent order is a result of a long time, strong relationship between DP World and Konecranes including mutual respect and trust.”

Konecranes’ laden container reach stacker is one of the most high performance reach stackers in the market. It features many innovative solutions including the box type chassis, load sensing hydraulics electronic overload, safety and monitoring system. It has a lifting capacity of 45 tonnes and can stack 5 containers high and 3 deep.
