Super shipyard in Primorie to start in H1 2010

Construction of Zvezda based super shipyard in Primori will commence first half 2010.

Mr Igor Hkruschev director of industrial and transportation department of Primorskii krai said that elaboration of project master plans and initial works are being carried out to the date.

A super shipyard will be constructed for gas carriers building. An agreement on the aforementioned issue was signed between Far East centre of ship repair and shipbuilding and Korean corporation Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering.

Heavy tonnage vessels (tankers and gas carriers), drilling ships, floating plants on liquefied natural gas production will be built here. South Korean investors shall invest about USD 200,000,000 into the project.

Two super shipyards will be constructed in Primorie, press service of the regional administration stated. Construction of the second shipyard (30th ship repair plant based) is to start second half 2010.

Both shipyards are projects of Far East centre of ship repair and shipbuilding (branch of United Shipbuilding Corporation, OSC). Is it planned to produce drilling equipment, oil platforms foundations and technical equipment at the shipyard of 30th ship repair plant in ZATO Fokino.

Construction agreement is signed between Far East centre of ship repair and shipbuilding and Singapore group of companies Yantai Raffles. The investment volume will amount to USD 100 to USD 200 million.
