AP reported that several groups say they will expand their protest against a Massey Energy mine in Southern West Virginia through e-mail.
The groups, which include The Sierra Club, Alliance for Appalachia and Greenpeace, said that they would send more than 500,000 e-mails to individuals Thursday and Friday to press their campaign to halt Massey's mining operation on Coal River Mountain.
The groups said that the mountain should be preserved as a wind farm and not mined for its coal reserves. They want President Mr Obama and the US Environmental Protection Agency to step in and stop the mining.
Mr Joe Manchin West Virginia Governor said that he won't interfere because Massey has valid state permits to mine the mountain.
