The Daily Times reported that Dr Usman Farooqui former chairman of Pakistan Steel Mills has moved a petition to the Sindh High Court seeking reinstatement including benefits.
The petition, CP 1676/2009 that was fixed for hearing on Thursday before a division bench of SHC comprising Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah was adjourned due to insufficient time. The petition will now come up for hearing on November 17.
The petition filed through his counsel advocate Mr Gohar Iqbal challenged his order of dismissal from service. The petitioner maintained that during his tenure record production was achieved and many agreements with international companies were inked for exporting the products of PSM, but instead of getting rewarded he was penalized, punished and subjected to political victimization.
He maintained that he was implicated in false cases of corruption causing huge losses to the national exchequer. He maintains that he was acquitted of all charges by the trial courts and since these false charges were used as grounds for his removal his order of dismissal from service should be revoked as well and he should be reinstated.
