
American Iron & Steel Industries reported that, in the week ending November 7th 2009, domestic raw steel production was 1.544 million tons while the capability utilization rate was 64.7%. Production was 1.209 million tons in the week ending November 7th 2008, while the capability utilization then was 50.7%. The current week production represents a 27.7% YoY increase from the same period in the previous year.
Production for the week ending November 7th 2009 is up 3.3% WoW from the previous week ending October 31st 2009 when production was 1.495 million tons and the rate of capability utilization was 62.7%.
Adjusted YTD production through November 7th 2009 was 52.219 million tons, at a capability utilization rate of 49.3%. That is a 43.3% YoY decrease from the 92.034 million tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 84.7%.
