
J K Lakshmi Cement said that it will invest INR 1200 crore for setting up a Greenfield plant at Durg in Chhattisgarh that will increase the company’s total production capacity by over 50%. It said that the plant will have a capacity of 2.7 million tonnes annually and is likely to go on stream by 2012-13.
Ms Vinita Singhania MD of JK Cement on the sidelines of the International Seminar on Cement and Building Materials said that “We are looking at a new plant in Durg with an investment of INR 1200 crore. The plant will have a capacity of 2.7 million tonnes annually and it is likely to be operational by 2012-13.”
She however did not provide details regarding the sourcing of money for the investment.
Ms Singhania said that with the operationalisation of the plant at Durg, the company’s annual capacity will go up by over 50%.
She added that “We have a total capacity of five million tonnes currently in our plant at Sirohi in Rajasthan and the grinding unit at Ahmedabad. With the addition of 2.7 million tonnes, our total annual capacity will increase by over 50%.”
