BHEL is scouting for a technology partner for its ambitious nuclear turbine and reactor project. The company is likely to set up a unit of 700 MW and a 1000 MW nuclear turbine unit in Bhopal.
As per reports, BHEL is in talks with various technology partners for the projects. The report said that the company initially is learnt to have manufacturing nuke turbines in 700 MW to 1000 MW capacity and later to enhance that to 6,000 MW capacity. The public sector giant is in talks with various companies of France and Russia for the purpose.
BHEL had expected to complete the deal by September this year but it could not be materialised in the Bhopal unit premises.
At present the Bhopal unit is using 50% of its capacity of the total installed capacity of 2500 MW power equipment, mainly transformers, hydro turbines and motors.
An official said that “Bhopal is one of the best options to have one nuclear turbine manufacturing unit and we would finalise a deal soon in this regard.”
