BL reported that production in the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited’s Visakhapatnam Steel Plant) was partially affected from the small hours of Friday following an explosion in one of the blast furnaces.

The report added that a major catastrophe was averted as workers ran out of the building and the furnace was shut down immediately.

As per report, there was a heavy downpour on Thursday night and water leaked from the roof and fell on the hot metal of blast furnace Godavari resulting in flames and an explosion.

There are two blast furnaces in VSP: Krishna and Godavari.
