ArcelorMittal Spain reactivated the last two damaged coke batteries at its Aviles coke plant. Repairs of units Nos. 1 and 2 were completed on last Tuesday, following the restart of unit No.3 in late December and No. 4 a week earlier. As a result, all four damaged batteries are back to operation after three months of recovery works.

A fire at ArcelorMittal Aviles cocking plant occurred in October 2018 seriously damaged a half of coke producing facilities. The company decided to repair them even though the plant in Aviles will be decommissioned at the end of 2019. Lacking coke was reportedly imported from ArcelorMittal Dunkirk in France.
