ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih has stopped the operation of the steelmaking unit No DSPA-6 marking the closure of the enterprise's open-hearth workshop. As part of a large-scale modernization program, the company is gradually phasing out outdated technologies, providing upgrades to production facilities with the implementation of environmental projects. In the near future, the double-bladed steelmaking unit # 6 will be disconnected from the power supply, with further dismantling of the main equipment. It is planned that this workshop area will continue to be used as a storehouse of refractories.

Since 2011, only DSPA-6 has been operated in the ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih workshop after the open-hearth furnace # 4 was shut down and dismantled.

After the marten closure, steel production will be fully concentrated in the converter shop and will remain at around 5.5 million tonnes per year.
