ETAuto reported that advertising sector watchdog ASCI has upheld a complaint against two-wheeler maker Yamaha India for a misleading advertisement in April, related to its motorcycle Yamaha FZ. In April, ASCI received a complaint against the company for an advertisement of its popular model FZ, in which a rider performs a wheelie, which the watchdog termed as disregard for safety and encourages negligence.

ASCI said that "In the advertisement, a specific visual showing the protagonist performing a wheelie shows a dangerous practice, manifests disregard for safety and encourages negligence."

Comments from Yamaha India could not be immediately ascertained.

Apart from Yamaha, the Consumer Complaints Council (CCC) upheld 89 advertisements out of the total 162 that were evaluated.
