Aluminium Stewardship Initiative announced that three Carcano facilities have been successfully certified against the ASI Performance Standard for responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium. The certification scope covers rolling of aluminium foil, and lacquering of aluminium flexible film and lamination of lacquered aluminium foils for food, pharmaceutical, and technical applications. Carcano Antonio S.p.A. has achieved ASI Performance Standard certification for its conversion operations in Andalo Valtellino and Mandello del Lario, and its rolling plant in Delebio, Italy. Carcano produces foils destined for diverse packaging applications and rolled products used in cables and insulation.

The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria, with the aim to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It sets out 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Governance, Environment and Social, which address key issues such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples rights, and greenhouse gas emissions. The independent, third-party audit of the Carcano facilities was carried out by Bureau Veritas Certification.
