Montel reported that Pacific basin coal prices have eased over the past week as weather and industrial disruptions to Australian supplies had little impact on a market otherwise quiet during the Chinese New Year. Broker Global Coal’s benchmark Newcastle [Australia] index was last assessed at USD 98.48/t, down by 1.3% on the week.

However, the physical market did see a 75,000t cargo for March delivery change hands on Wednesday at USD 96.75/t.
