Reuters reported that German carmaker BMW no longer builds engines in Britain destined for South Africa, due to uncertainty around Brexit, the firm's production chief Oliver Zipse said. Engines which are built at Hams Hall (engine facility)currently are originated as EU products, Zipse told reporters at an event at the firm's southern English Oxford factory.

He said that in the event of a no-deal Brexit, engines being sent for X3 cars being built in South Africa would no longer have EU status and the cars would lose their tax-free import status into Europe.

He further added that "Hams Hall doesn't build any South Africa products anymore, which is of course, bad for the UK.”
