CIL Thermal Coal to Power Sector in 9 Months Declines by 7% YoY

PTI reported that state-owned Coal India Limited’s coal supply to the power sector registered a decline of 6.8 per cent to 377.86 million tonnes in the April-January period of the ongoing fiscal while despatches to the power sector in the year-ago period was 405.61 million tonnes. The supply of thermal coal by Singareni Collieries Company Limited in the April-January period also registered a decline of 2.6 per cent to 44.03 million tonne, over 45.22 million tonne in the year-ago period.

However, the coal despatch by CIL to the power sector in January registered an increase of 2.9 per cent to 43.20 million tonnes, over 42 million tonnes in the corresponding month of the previous fiscal.

CIL saw its production decline by 3.9 per cent to 451.52 million tonne in April-January period, over 469.65 million tonne in the year-ago period.
