CIMIC Group company CPB Contractors has won a AUD 90 million contract with Australia Pacific Liquefied Natural Gas to deliver over 300 coal seam gas wells in the Surat Basin, Queensland. CPB will work on the project until 2021, having already provided infrastructure for over 800 wells with APLNG over the past five years. The company will create infrastructure for track access and well site lease pad preparation, as well as gas and water pipelines, electrical supply and post-installation rehabilitation.

APLNG, a joint venture between Australia’s Origin Energy (37.5 per cent), American multinational ConocoPhillips (37.5 per cent) and Chinese giant Sinopec (25 per cent), is the largest coal seam gas producer in Australia. The company owns and operates several LNG facilities across the Bowen and Surat Basin regions of Queensland, with product transported to both domestic and Asian markets (particularly China and Japan).
