Coal Mining Resumed in Underground Mines of SCCL

After a 51-day break due to the coronavirus-triggered lockdown, workers returned and resumed operations in the underground mines of Singareni Collieries Corporation Company Limited. With work resuming on Thursday, about 65 per cent of the 24,000 workers turned up for their duties.

About 48,000 workers are working in 27 underground mines and 18 open cast mines spread over six districts. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, 22 underground mines were shut down and only five were operated by the company during the lockdown. nearly 60,000 tonnes of the coal production was lost every day in all the areas in the SCCL.
