Downhill Drive in Indian Auto Sector Continues in May 2019 - SIAM

Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturer announced that Indian auto industry produced a total 4,879,375 vehicles including Passenger Vehicles, Commercial Vehicles, Three Wheelers, Two Wheelers and Quadricycle in April-May 2019 as against 5,380,019 in April-May 2018, registering a de growth of 9.3% YoY while sales of passenger vehicles declined by 18.8 YoY during April-May 2019. Within the Passenger Vehicles, the sales for Passenger Cars, Utility Vehicle & Vans declined by by 23.0% YoY, 6.2% YoY and 28.6% YoY respectively in April-May 2019

The overall Commercial Vehicles segment registered a decline of 8.1% YoY percent in April-May 2019. Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles declined by 16.7% YoY and Light Commercial Vehicles declined by 2.4% in April-May 2019 over the same period last year.

Three Wheelers sales declined by 6. 6% YoY in April-May 2019. Within the Three Wheelers, Passenger Carrier sales registered de-growth of 7.6% YoY and Goods Carrier declined by 2.5% YoY in April-May 2019

Two Wheelers sales registered de growth of 11.7% YoY in April-May 2019 over April-May 2018. Within the Two Wheelers segment, Scooters, Motorcycles and Mopeds declined by 17.7% YoY, 8.4% YoY and 17.7% YoY respectively in April-May 2019

In April-May 2019, overall automobile exports declined by 0.3% YoY. While Passenger Vehicles and Two Wheelers exports grew by 5.2% YoY and 1.7% YoY respectively and Commercial Vehicles and Three Wheelers registered de growth of 55.0% YoY and 10.9% YoY respectively in April-May 2019
