Zawya reported that the second tallest tower planned for Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah would be completed in 2020, according to a top official with the project’s developer, Nakheel. The 240-metre Palm Tower hotel and residential complex, set to be the second-tallest structure on the man-made island after the under-construction 260-metre Palm360 luxury hotel and residential project, would be completed in 2020.

Nakheel’s chief commercial officer Aqil Kazim said that the 1.2 billion UAE dirhams ($326.8m) Palm Tower will have 50 floors of hotel and residential accommodation topped off by one of the world’s highest rooftop infinity pools on the 50th floor, a 51st level restaurant complex and a 52nd floor public viewing deck.

Mr Kazim said the 289-key St Regis Dubai – The Palm hotel would occupy the first 18 floors while luxury residences totalling 432 units would be housed on the next 30 floors.

Nakheel official said during a media tour of the project site said that “The civil works for hotel and residential structure are finished and we are working on levels 51 and 52 and the club. In terms of completion, we are targeting 2019 for the hotel, whereas for the residences, the fit-outs will finish in 2020.”

The 819 million dirhams (USD 223 million) main contract for the project was jointly awarded to local firms Trojan General Contracting and National Projects & Construction in October 2015.

Commenting on the Palm360 project, he said the project is in advanced design stage and main construction would start soon.

The project, which comprises the Raffles The Palm Dubai Hotel and Raffles Residences Palm360, is scheduled for completion in 2021, according to a October 2018 Nakheel statement. The master developer had said in the statement that it awarded a 23.7 million dirhams ($6.5m) piling work contract for the project to Germany’s Bauer Spezialtiefbau, and expected to release the construction tender in first quarter 2019.
