EDP secures 96-MW wind PPA in Brazil

November 29 (Renewables Now) –

Portuguese power utility Energias de Portugal SA has signed a power purchase agreement for 96 MW of new wind power generation in Brazil. Through its unit EDP Renovaveis SA, the company will sell the output of the Catanduba wind farm, located in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norte, under a 16-year private contract.

The wind farm is set to start operations in 2024. With this new contract, EDP has roughly 1.1 GW of wind and solar energy projects under development in Brazil, with operations expected to begin in 2021-2024.
