Portuguese company Efacec will be in charge of the engineering, procurement and construction and operation and maintenance of a 41-MWp solar photovoltaic farm in Mozambique. To be located in a 138-hectares area in Metoro town, the PV facility will be the largest of its kind in the country, Efacec said on Wednesday.

French renewable energy company Neoen is developing the solar farm. Neoen owns the project in partnership with Electricidade de Mocambique through a company named Central Solar Metoro. Expected to generate 68 GWh per year, this PV project is scheduled to commence power generation by end-2020. Its output will be sold to EDM under a power purchase agreement
