Economic Times reported that power and energy solution provider Exicom Tele-Systems has bagged the second bid to supply 2,000 electric vehicle chargers under the Energy Efficiency Services at different locations in the country. The company will supply 1,800 AC chargers of 3.3kW and 200 DC fast chargers of 15kW, which will be used to charge Tata Motors' Tigor and Mahindra & Mahindra's e-Verito cars procured by EESL.

EESL, a joint venture of PSUs under the power ministry, had in August last year floated a tender for procuring 10,000 electric cars for which Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra qualified the bids.

Both the companies have so far supplied 500 vehicles to EESL, which will be used in government departments and ministries.

Mr Anant Nahata managing director of Exicom said that "We thank EESL for its efforts in consolidating this market and providing the necessary impetus to the industry. This will also drive down costs and carbon emissions."

Mr Nahata further said such initiatives will create local manufacturing facilities and grow technical competencies for the long-term growth of the EV industry in India.

The company said the chargers are compliant with the Bharat AC and DC specifications released by the Department of Heavy Industries.

Customers can pay using multiple options such as debit/credit card, BHIM as well as UPI.

Currently, Exicom offers both EV charging solutions for home and public charging for two wheelers, three wheelers, passenger cars and commercial vehicles.

The company said it has been empanelled by leading automobile manufacturers in India and is actively working to collaborate with both public and private organisations.
