FeNi Producer in Greece Suffers from Damages due to Cyclone

According to the local news report, the cyclone which occurred in the Mediterranean Sea at the end of last month passed Greece during 29th to 30th of September, and Larco General Mining & Metallurgical Co SA, a ferro-nickel producer suffered from damages. Persons concerned with the industry presume the damage will amount to several tens of thousands euro.

The Company's plant was hit directly by the cyclone because of being in Larymna located about 80 km to the north-northwest of Athens and facing the sea. The entire facilities including electric and rotary kilns are damaged, and a big damage also can be seen in the plant building. In its vicinity, there is a panic condition resulting from power failure, heavy rainstorm and tidal wave.

Besides, the cyclone brought down the big damage also to the Euboea Island where the nickel mine is situated, and the current production volume at this plant is down to half (50 tonnes of ferro-nickel per day).

The Company's annual production capacity is understood to be 18,000 to 20,000 tonnes of ferro-nickel.
