TOI reported that virtually washing its hands off, the state government has passed the buck to NHAI for the repair of Gaya-Patna stretch of NH-83 linking the state capital with the Grand Trunk road near Dobhi in Gaya district. A few days back, the Patna high court took serious note of the poor condition of Gaya -Patna road and disapprovingly compared it with the fine condition of the road linking the state capital with Biharsharif. The Gaya-Patna road is dotted by pot holes all along the route. According to Danish, a driver frequently shuttling between Gaya and Patna, a large number of road users now take either the Kurtha-Kinjar or Khizarsarai-Ekangarsarai route for going to Patna.

Asked about the repair of the Gaya-Patna Road, road construction department principal secretary Amrit Lai Meena said being a national highway, the NHAI is mandated to maintain the road.

Meena said that “The state government, on its part is persuading the agency to get the road repaired at the earliest.”
