New options in the mega macs software from Hella Gutmann Solutions are to allow the diagnostics to access basic data of future vehicles. The fact that modern vehicles are increasingly connected whether via the Internet or with one another as well as the growth of semi-autonomous driving functions create new challenges for data security. Manufacturers are therefore working on new security concepts designed to prevent hacker attacks on vehicle data and vehicle electronics. Like a firewall in "carwall" computers, it protects modern vehicles from unauthorized access to data. Against this background, the open data flow through the OBD interface will be severely restricted. In the future, today's high diagnostic volumes will only be available to authenticated users.

As with previous modifications to technical framework conditions due to new vehicle technologies or regulatory changes, Hella Gutmann Solutions will also offer practical solutions for this particular challenge. The new feature in mega macs will enable users to diagnose future vehicle models using the usual amount of data available under the law.

FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) has already started delivering its latest models with the so-called "Security gate". Other manufacturers are developing similar safety concepts for their new vehicles. Therefore, Hella Gutmann Solutions is working on a solution that will enable the implementation of the required authentication functions in the mega macs software. These functions will be available to customers via software updates.
