Honda Cars India to hike price upto INR 35,000

The Indian arm of Japanese carmaker Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) announced a proposed price hike on its models in the range of INR 10,000 to INR 35,000 due to custom duty hike and higher frieght rates, among others. The revised prices will be effective from 1 August 2018, the company said in a statement. The price of the recently launched Amaze will also be revised.

Mr Rajesh Goel, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, HCIL said, "Due to the increasing pressure on input costs, impact of custom duty hike over past few months and higher freight rates, we are forced to consider increasing the prices of our cars." Mr Goel said that the introductory price of the recently launched All New Amaze will also be revised from August.

Recently, Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) increased prices of its vehicles across model range, except newly-launched SUV Creta, by up to 2 per cent from June to offset rising input costs.
