Reuters citing, project manager ICGB, saying that a consortium including Tractebel Engineering, part of energy company Engie, has won a tender to carry out engineering and consultancy work for a new gas pipeline between Bulgaria and Greece. The consortium's EUR 5.67 million bid offered the best price among four short-listed bidders.

Bulgaria plans to start building the 182 km (113 mile) pipeline in July and have it operational in 2020. It will receive Azeri gas through the pipeline, thereby ending its almost complete dependence on Russian supplies. The EUR 240 million pipeline will have an annual capacity of 3 billion cubic meters.

The consortium for engineering and consultancy comprises Tractebel's Belgian and Italian units, Austria's Intber and two Bulgarian companies.
