Indore becomes thriving ground for auto industry - Report

ETAuto reported that with leading automobile industries setting up facilities in Indore, the region has become a flourishing ground for automobile ancillary units growing at a pace of 15 per cent in the region, experts said. The number of automobile ancillary units in areas of Indore, Dewas and Pithampur, has risen to over 300 in a year, thanks to automobile giants such as.

Eicher Motors, Force Motors, MAN Truck & Bus and John Deer Tractor among others. “Majority of the auto component for large automobile manufacturers are made by local ancillary units. In recent months, over 10 automobile ancillary units have either seen or booked the land at several sites in the region, according to data from the Audhyogik Kendra Vikas Nigam (AKVN).

Mr Surinder Pal Singh Kohli, Jamna Auto Industries Ltd executive director, said that “Infrastructure has improved immensely in Indore and the area is well connected to road and other modes of transportation. Being close to leading automobile manufactures, the region is well suited for ancillary units.”

Jamna Auto Industries has purchased 50 acres of land and has proposed to invest INR 300 crore in phases.

Motherson Sumi Systems, a leading manufacturer of automotive wiring harnesses has expanded to three facilities in the region.

According to leading automobile players, each ancillary unit in the region is producing about 200 units of auto components.
