Iran Lead & Zinc Ore Extractions Down by 46%

Major Iranian lead and zinc producers extracted 207,788 tonnes of ores during the first three Iranian months (March 21-June 21), which indicates a 46% fall in production compared with last year’s corresponding period. Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization’s latest report shows.

Angouran Lead and Zinc Complex accounted for 193,355 tonnes and Nakhlak Lead and Zinc Plant for 14,433 tonnes of the total output to register a 48% and 6% YoY decrease respectively.

The two producers extracted an aggregate of 1.09 million tonnes of ores in the last fiscal year (ended March 20, 2019).

Lead, zinc ore extractions during the month to June 21 amounted to 78,616 tonnes, down 38% compared with last year’s similar month.

Angouran's output stood at 73,910 tonnes, down 40% YOY, while Nakhlak extracted 4,706 tons, down 11% YOY.
