Major fire breaks out at ONGC oil well - AFES

ET citied, the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) officials, as saying that a major fire broke out at an oil well operated by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation at Devdi village near Geratpur in Ahmedabad late on Wednesday evening. One person died in the incident, but the deceased's identity could not be ascertained as the body was charred beyond recognition. An AFES official said that "Two persons were also hospitalised with burn injuries. The oil well is located between Geratpur railway station and Dudheswar Mahadev temple at Devdi village.

Fire official said that "Nine fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire. ONGC and AFES fire teams took two hours to douse the flames. The cause of the fire and the value of property lost have not yet been ascertained."
