Ramboll to Support DEA for International Transfer of District Energy Know-How

A consortium led by Ramboll has entered a framework agreement with the Danish Energy Agency on the provision of specialist technical expertise on heating and cooling supply legislation, planning and modelling to DEA’s partner countries. DEA is running programmes and projects in 15 countries with the aim to promote and integrate renewable energy and energy efficiency and thereby reduce CO2 emissions. It does so through technical assistance combined with policy dialogue. The programmes and projects build capacity with the partner countries to provide convincing input for governmental energy, climate/low carbon policies, strategies and plans in the countries, which currently include China, Vietnam, Mexico, South Africa, Ukraine, Turkey , Indonesia, Ethiopia, India, Egypt, Germany, United Kingdom, USA, the Netherlands and South Korea.

DEA has chosen the consortium consisting of Ramboll, Niras and DNV GL to provide specialist technical expertise on demand to ensure that the implementing agencies in the partner countries can assess the most appropriate knowledge and skills and benefit from the expertise of international know-how. The consortium will provide expertise on district energy, including inter alia energy mapping, forecasting and analysis of heating and cooling demand and supply at national, regional and municipal level and preparation of municipal and regional heat plans.

The consortium partners complement each other well in their technical scope and expertise. By joining forces, they offer DEA access to a large international network of local offices spread around the globe and recognised international expertise in this field.

The duration of the framework agreement is three years, and the expected value is DKK 11 million.
