Russia’s Baltic ports annual capacity can be increased by 32.5% by 2025

By 2025, throughput capacity of the ports within the Baltic basin of the Russian Federation can grow by 32.5% (117.5 million tonnes per year) to 478.9 million tonnes, press center of Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot) cites Yury Tsvetkov, Deputy Minister of Transport – head of Rosmorrechflot, as saying at the meeting held in Saint-Petersburg and headed by Maksim Akimov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. According to Yury Tsvetkov, it is possible with implementation of the accelerated scenario for expansion of port facilities on the Baltic Sea.

The basic scenario under the comprehensive plan for upgrading and expanding core infrastructure foresees a 15-pct increase, +53.8 million tonnes versus the current capacity of the ports to almost 415 million tonnes by 2025.
