Russian Vorkutinskaya Started Mining a New Lava in Southern Block

Vorkutinskaya mine Vorkutaugol JSC, one of the largest Russian coal producers, part of PAO Severstal, has launched a new treatment face in the mine’s southern block. Lava 712 is located on the Triple stratum, and its reserves are 800 thousand tons of coking coal grade 2Zh. The company plans to fully develop them in May 2020.

Ilya Shunov, deputy director for production of the Vorkutinskaya mine, said that “The thickness of the coal seam is 2.7 meters. The length of the excavation column is 1.2 kilometers, the length of the working face is 196 meters. When preparing the installation chamber, for the first time we fully used the anchoring of the mine.”
