Samsung Engineering bags USD 700 million petrochemical plant contract from SABIC

Samsung Engineering, Seoul-based Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) company, announced it has bagged a USD 700 million contract from Saudi manufacturing company SABIC for setting up an Ethylene Oxide-Ethylene Glycol (EO/EG) plant in Saudi Arabia.

The contract has been placed by SABIC affiliate company Jubail United Petrochemical Company (United). The project will be executed in Jubail Industrial City located in the east of Saudi Arabia, 100 kilometer north of Dammam and the construction completion is expected in 2020.

A Samsung Engineering spokesperson said that "We are eager to provide the finest plant for Saudi Arabia. With JUPC's trust and our proven track record in EO/EG plants, we will provide the best services possible and are looking forward to work with United with many further years to come."

The company said it has delivered 27 projects in Saudi Arabia including 22 for SABIC related companies. Samsung Engineering has built 16 EG plants across US, Malaysia, Thailand and India over the last decade.
