Serbian President Mr Aleksandar Vucic, during the opening ceremony of the new 104-kilometer section highway E-763, announced new investments worth USD 1 billion for road works over five years. The ceremony was held in Ljig municipality, in the southwest of Belgrade, Serbia, where the new 67-kilometer section from the city of Obrenovac connects to the recently concluded section that extends to Prijelina, spanning 104 kilometers. The Chinese-built highway was named 'Milos the Great,' in tribute to Prince Milos Obrenovic (1780-1860), who was deeply involved in Serbia's rebellions against the Ottoman Empire and achieved some autonomy for this principality.

Mr Vucic stressed that with the commissioning of this highway, a 70-year-old dream comes true that contributes to a better quality of life for the country, while also announcing the upcoming construction of the Sumadija highway, which will be named after another prince, Karadjordjevic.

He recalled that his country has advanced from the brink of bankruptcy to have the largest investment in proportion to the number of inhabitants, and thanked and congratulated those who contributed to the success of this work.
