SSAB Expands Business in Chile

Swedish SSAB’s subsidiary SSAB Chile announced the change of its Service Center for a new and larger structure in it commune of Quilicura in Santiago, to provide a better service with commercialized products of greater added value, reduce delivery times, increase in production capacity and improvements in production line. The facilities are expected to be ready by the end of February 2020. The new plant, with a layout focused on safety first, will be more productive and efficient with 12,315 m² built; it will have a better disposition of the production area more quickly in the flow of materials and modern and better facilities.

The new installation is aimed at the mining segment, the company's main market in the region, which produces high wear resistance steels, such as Hardox® 450, 500, 550 and 600 steels, from 6 to 100 mm; structural steels such as Strenx® 700E, from 8 to 170 mm; Strenx® 700MC and Strenx® 700MC Plus, from 3 to 12 mm; and Duroxite® 100 and 200 Bimetallic Plates. SSAB Chile establishes its presence in the region as a specialist in the marketing of tempered and tempered steels.

In Chile, the SSAB Service Center has been in existence since 2010 and is part of the Hardox Wearparts program. In that year, its sale was 500 tons with six employees.
