TCS' ignio™ Powers IT Transformation at Tata Steel Europe

Tata Consultancy Services announced that Digitate's cognitive automation solution, ignio™, has been successfully deployed by Tata Steel Europe as its AI platform for IT operations. Tata Steel Europe is currently on a digital transformation journey with innovation, customerfocus, and value chain excellence at its core. The company has a complex IT landscape with a broad range of technologies in the areas of ERP, MES, data and reporting, planning and scheduling, etc. TCS is helping TSE in this journey, using its Machine-First™ approach to transform the underlying technology operations and deliver improved user support levels, enhance productivity and reduce operational risks. The ignio suite consisting of ignio AIOps, ignio AI.SAPOps, and ignio AI.Workload Management, is central to this initiative.

Kees Gerretse, Chief Information Officer Tata Steel Europe, said "Service and cost are central to our operational IT objectives; having made significant investment in the digital agenda for sales, manufacturing and other functions, it is clear that within our own function we must deploy and maximize the latest technologies. Too often, IT is so focused on helping develop capabilities for the business, it misses the opportunity for itself. This program with TCS to use the ignio platform has proven we can both drive our objectives and understand more directly, the potential of such a platform for other parts of the business."

Bram Moerdijk, Manager - Application Development & Support Tata Steel Europe, added "With ignio, we aim to build a DigitalTwin of our IT landscape to maximize cognitive automation, which should result in significant lower costs and improved service levels. But the ultimate goal is to use this primarily to automate end-to-end business operations."

Within four months of implementing ignio AI.SAPOps, ignio is handling 83% of the incidents and requests autonomously, and TSE has started reaping benefits such as faster turnaround times (98% reduction in lead time to fulfill requests) and elimination of manual errors. The next step in the roadmap is a comprehensive 360 degree view of the IT landscape including business process and batches (environment blueprint), batch analytics, dynamic thresholds, intelligent automation corroborating, and enabling TSE's Digital Enterprise strategy.
