TOI reported that the UP cabinet recently approved the Jewar airport bid document prepared by Price water house Coopers (PwC). It will be sent to Union civil aviation ministry for clearance, officials said. The clearance is expected by December-end. Thereafter, an open international bidding will be tendered. The bidding process will be handled by Noida International Airport Company Limited (NIAL), a company formed by the UP government on August 28, 2018 to get the Jewar airport project rolling. NIAL has recently formed a 10-member core team comprising officials from YEIDA to handle the airport-related work.

Mr Arun Veer Singh, CEO of Yamuna Authority, told TOI “We have got the government order (GO) of approval for the bid document on Jewar airport, following the UP cabinet approval on Tuesday. The concessionaire document will now be sent to the ministry of civil aviation for final clearance which is likely to come within this month.”

Mr Singh said that “Once cleared, it will be placed for global biding of 36 participant countries of Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) along with Indian contenders. The decision for global bidding was taken in the cabinet meeting on Tuesday by chief minister Yogi Adityanath.”

Some of the countries which are part of OECD include the US, the UK, France, Germany, Japan and Korea.

To facilitate the airport project and work related to it, YEIDA recently formed a core committee of 10 officials to operate under NIAL.
