Western Peripheral Expressway & Ballabhgarh-Mujesar Metro inaugurated

Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi inaugurated Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) western peripheral expressway on Monday, 19 November 2018, in order to cut down the extra traffic in Delhi. Also, PM Modi flags off the 3.2 km-long Ballabhgarh-Mujesar Metro rail link and Ballabhgarh becomes the fourth city in Haryana to get metro connectivity after Gurgaon, Faridabad and Bahadurgarh.

Facts about the western peripheral expressway

1. A sum of INR 6,400 crore has been spent on the expressway project and 3,846 acres of land was acquired at a cost of INR 2,788 crore

2. The length of the stretch from Kundli to Manesar is over 83 km. This stretch would have 14 major or minor bridges, 56 underpass or agricultural vehicular underpasses, seven intersections and seven toll plazas.

3. Light vehicles can travel at the speed of120 kmph, the heavy ones can run at the speed of 100 kmph on the expressway.

4. It will provide high-speed connectivity between northern and southern districts of Haryana, linking the National Highway 1 (Panipat to Delhi), National Highway-8 (Jaipur-Gurgaon-Delhi road), National Highway-10 (Hisar-Rohtak-Delhi road).

5. One can pass by an aesthetically rich view, with fountains, historical and cultural monuments on the way at various locations.

6. Apart from other amenities, road safety has been given special preference. An ambulance, a crane and a police patrol vehicle will be stationed at a distance of every 20 km for the travellers.
