TOI citing industries minister Mr Vishwajit Rane reported that the Goa Industrial Development Corporation intends to rope in validated consultants to help the state auction a portion of the industrial land returned by special economic zone promoters. As the state lacks the expertise to negotiate the complex coal allocation and extraction process, GIDC is also likely to seek assistance of a consulting firm to help comply with the coal ministry’s norms. These two issues are expected to be taken up for discussion at the next GIDC board meeting. We will get a consultant to draft the request for proposal to decide how to appoint the firm that will actually extract the coal. Once the RFP is drafted, it will be sent to the government for approval. The government wanted to ensure that the entire process was conducted transparently and professionally.

Speaking about the proposed auction of SEZ land, Mr Rane said an external validated agency would be hired to help prepare the documents required. The SEZ land auction has to go to the cabinet. Once the document for the auction is prepared, I will send it to the chief minister and once he approves the file, it will go for cabinet approval.
