Australian Mining reported that Stanmore Coal is on track to launch production at the Isaac Plains East project in Queensland in first quarter 2019. The company took another step towards production at the thermal coal operation when it secured environmental approval from Queensland’s Department of Environment and Science this week.

Environmental backing is crucial for Stanmore to increase the mine life at its Isaac Plains complex, it reported today.

Stanmore said in an ASX announcement that “The issuing of the Environmental Authority amendment, execution of landholder compensation agreements, and the state’s approval of the coordination agreement with an over lapping gas tenement holder are conditions precedent for the grant of the IPE mining leases.”

Stanmore expects to secures the mining leases for IPE in the coming months. All of its tenements agreements have been executed and lodged to the mines department.

IPE has JORC reserves of 11.09 million tonnes of coal, which will be processing at existing plant and utilise Isaac Plains infrastructure.
