ET reported that JK Cement will spend INR 1,700 crore on enhancing its production capacity to 15 million tonnes by the end of 2020, from 10 MT at present, and entering markets such as Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, said a senior company executive. The measures include addition of 1 MT grinding capacity at the company’s plants in Nimbahera and Mangrol, said Mr Rajnish Kapur, business head of grey cement at JK Cement.

However, the company is setting up grinding units at Balasinor in Gujarat and Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, both facilities sourcing clinker from Mangrol in Rajasthan where a brownfield expansion of 3.5 MT will come into operation in the second quarter of 2019-20. It will lay the foundation stone for its unit in Gujarat.

Mr Kapur said that “Since we are almost sold out in the peak season, especially in the north, our strategy is to expand to satisfy customers better in that season.” He said that JK Cement is funding the investment through a mix of debt and equity.
